Shape Sort

Did you know the post office delivers about 24 million packages every day? That’s a lot of items to put in boxes!

Practice your packing skills! Grab a mailing list and explore the Children’s main floor area. Find the boxes with the correct shape to match each item on your list. Then come back to the desk for a sticker!

Memorial Day Poppy

On Memorial Day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Due to its growth on the battlefields of World War I, the red poppy is a well-established symbol of remembrance for those who died in war.

Many people wear poppies on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day in recognition.

Reading/STEM Resources and Programs

Shared Reading Information

Shared Reading

We don’t just do summer reading programs here. Our Shared Reading program is designed to help your child keep up the good reading all year-round.

The simple program encourages you and your child to become reading partners, as together you set reading goals and talk about what you read. You can create your own reward system for meeting your goals, but the library, through generous donations from local businesses, also provides several prizes for your child to choose from once a month. Sign up online at orem.beanstack.org or in the Beanstack app.

1,000 Book Before Kindergarten Information

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple and the rewards are priceless. Read any book to your child–infant, toddler, or preschooler–until you have read 1,000 books together. After registering, come to the Children’s main floor reference desk to receive your first 100 books record log. Record each book you and your child read together by simply marking the icon on the record sheet. You may read the same book multiple times. You can also count books heard atstorytime, daycare and preschool.

After each set of 100 books is read and recorded, take your log to Children’s desk to receive the log for your next 100 books. Small rewards are earned with completion of 100 books and 500 books. After reading the 1000th book, your child will receive a certificate of completion and a free book.

Sign up online at orem.beanstack.org or in the Beanstack app.

If you prefer using paper charts, print your reading logs HERE.
