How long can I keep items?
  • Materials check out for 3 weeks with two 3-week renewals. Exceptions are:
  • Items on hold – 3-week checkout, no renewal
  • Music CDs and cassette tapes (limit of 30) – 3-week checkout with two 3-week renewals
  • DVDs/Videos – 2 week checkout, $1.00 fee, optional 2-week renewal for $1.00 fee
  • Nonfiction/Very Young DVDs/Videos – 2-week checkout with two 2-week renewals (no fee)
  • Board/Video Games (limit of 3 each) – 3-week checkout with two 3-week renewals
What are the late charges?

Most late materials are subject to a $.10 per day fine. Videos and DVDs are $.50 per day. A $5.00 late fee is added when an item becomes 30 days overdue. Charge for damaged or lost items is our original cost of the item plus a $5.00 processing fee.

How do I return items?

All but specifically marked items may be returned through our 24 hour drive-up book-drop, located on the north side of the Library. For further information, call 801-229-7050.

How do I get more library materials?
  • Provo City Library allows Orem Public Library card users to register their card free of charge. The Provo Library website may be accessed at www.provolibrary.com
  • Interlibrary Loan Service is available to Orem Library patrons for many items that Orem or Provo Library does not own. To make an Interlibrary Loan Request, click here, or call 801-229-7175.Still can’t find what you need? Fill out this Request for Purchase form.
  • Item checked out? Place a hold by clicking on My Account or call 801-229-7175.
Do you have computers I can use?

Yes! We have computers available for the public to use. They are located downstairs in the south wing by the fiction area. You can either log in to a computer using your library card and PIN, or stop by the fiction desk for a gust pass.

How do I use the study rooms?

We currently offer 7 study rooms, located in the library’s south wing. Rooms may be reserved for use up to 7 days in advance. Each patron or group may use a room for a maxiumum of two hours per day. Walk-in reservations will be considered based on availability.  Our study rooms vary in size, with the largest able to accommodate up to 6 people.  To reserve a room, please visit the reservation page Study Room Reservation. Do you accept donations?

If you want to donate directly to the library consider purchasing a library pin or donate though the Orem Community Foundation.

The Orem Community Foundation was established in 2003 as a means of helping fund the many needs in Orem. You can help the library or other Orem City community projects that will help enrich and improve the wellbeing of our citizens. 

Beginning December 1, we will no longer be accepting book or media donations until further notice.

Do you sell books?

Yes, we sell books!

Support the library and find great books at a huge discount! Find gently used and discarded board books, graphic novels, hardcovers, paperbacks, magazines, DVDs, CDs, vinyl, and more at the book sale area, located across from the circulation desk at the library entrance.

New items will be added as available instead of monthly. Regular prices apply to all items all the time. The exception: We will announce Lucky Day sales for some items at random.

What does the library display?

The Orem Library has a variety of displays that highlight our large and diverse collection. There are four main displays found in the library:

1) North Display: A display featuring holidays, celebrations of different cultural groups and a variety of topics. Located in the north wing across from the holds.

2) South Display: Learn about timely issues and interesting subjects. Located on the south wing pyramid display.

3) Meet Your Librarian Display: Get to know your librarians’ tastes and favorite books. Located in the north wing by the circulation desk.

4) Meet Your Neighbor Display: Share your love for the Orem Public Library and tell your neighbors about your favorite items in our collection. You must have an Orem Library card to create a display. Located in the north wing by the circulation desk.

Can I make my own library display?

Yes! We have a Meet Your Neighbor Display set up to for patrons to put together a list of their favorite things from the library.

Does the library have Wi-Fi or computers I can use?

Yes, the library has a self service computer lab located downstairs in the North Wing. You can use the computers with your Orem library card or by getting a guest pass at the Fiction Desk.

Wi-Fi is available thoughout the library and does not require a password to access. 

Can I print things at the library?
We are currently upgrading our print system at the library. During this upgrade, printing at the library will be unavailable until December 2. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve our printing services.
What art does the library display?

The Orem Public Library is proud to host a varity of art displays. Art can be found in the Library Hall and throughout the Children's Department on the main floor of the library. What are library lockers?

Need to pick up/return a movie or book but can't make it to the Orem Library? You are now able to choose Hillcrest Lockers as a pick-up location when placing holds on items in our library catalog. Items are delivered daily Monday–Friday. A book return drop is located near the lockers so you can drop off items when you're done.

How do I check out items from the lockers?

1. Scan/enter your library card number at the locker kiosk.

2. Select and check out your materials

3. The locker containing your holds will automatically open. Retrieve your materials and close the door.

¡Nueva ubicación de recogida y devolución en la biblioteca de Orem!

¿Necesita recoger/devolver una película o un libro pero no puede llegar a la Biblioteca Orem? Ahora puede elegir Hillcrest Lockers como lugar de recogida al realizar reservas de artículos en nuestro catálogo de la biblioteca. Los artículos se entregan todos los días de lunes a viernes. Cerca de los casilleros hay una zona de devolución de libros para que pueda dejar los artículos cuando haya terminado.

Cómo sacar artículos de los casilleros?

1. Escanear/ingresar el numero de tarjeta de la biblioteca

2. Seleccionar los materiales

3. El casillero que contiene tus reservas se abrirá automáticamente. Retirar materiales y cerrar la puerta.
